Homecare services company The Human Support Group has been swallowed up by City & County, one of the UK’s largest providers of community-based social care services.
Established in 1998, Manchester-headquartered HSG provides homecare services for adults and aims to support people so they are able to enjoy life as independently as possible.
HSG services are provided across the UK via a branch network of over 35 locations.
Through its 1,450 care staff, it provides services across domiciliary care, re-ablement, respite, independent living support and complex care.
The business has grown significantly over the past five years and turnover for the year to March 2019 was in excess of £28m.
City & County CEO James Thorburn writes: “We are delighted to welcome HSG into the City & County Group. HSG is a well-respected and successful business with a reputation for quality care.
“The acquisition will further build our presence across the UK and across the various homecare market segments including reablement, extra care and complex care services.”
The shareholders of HSG were advised by Grant Thornton Corporate Finance (Joe Pollard and Cariad Mudford) and law firm Mills & Reeve (Chris Ross, Vicky Protano and Daniel Rathbone).
Joe Pollard, Grant Thornton Corporate Finance said: “We were delighted to lead this transaction for the shareholders of HSG, a business that has seen growth as a result of significant demand for its high quality services over the past few years.
“The business has found a great home and we wish it well under its new ownership. This deal is yet another in the healthcare sector for Grant Thornton showing the resilience in the M&A market, despite an uncertain political situation”
Established in 2009, City & County, which is backed by Graphite Capital, supports tens of thousands of people with wide-ranging care needs, helping them to continue living independently at home.
Key services include homecare, complex and live-in care, reablement services, and the provision of extra care facilities.
