It’s the ideal opportunity for someone looking to take on a successful business with a proven track record and is own dungeon – Devon’s premier swingers’ club has gone on the market.
The business, in one of the county’s largest urban areas, is being sold as a going concern by owners who want to retire after 16 years of organising late nigh parties for the sexually liberated.
A top South West estate agent is marketing the freehold of a historic building in a discreet location, but in a well populated area.
The four-storey block contains private rooms, equipped with double- and single-beds, a steam room, spa, cafe, “rest room”, and dungeon.
The club, which is not being identified because of the sensitive nature of its business, has been successfully trading as a weekly swingers’ rendezvous and gay sauna for 16 years.
It is being sold as a going concern too, with regular users consoled that the idea is for a new operator to continue providing weekly swingers’ hangouts and monthly parties where participants are invited to “explore your darker side” with “other like-minded people”.
On specialist websites the two owners have said that after 26 years of hard work they have decided to put their feet up.
A statement said: “It is our intention to sell this successful business, we have built over the past 16 years, to somebody new. We are now actively seeking a purchaser.”
They say they can provide details of price, running costs and earnings for what is described as “the South West’s biggest and best swingers’ club”.
So it is the ideal opportunity for someone looking for an opening, in business that is.
The venue is primarily a meeting place for gay men, advertised as a sauna and bathhouse on specialist gay websites, and contains “a large cruising area and dungeon equipment”.
But it also opens every Saturday for “consenting adult couples” of a man and woman. Single people are admitted to but men on their own are only let in if they are the guest of a couple or by joining, and being vetted by, an online swingers’ community.
The venue said: “Each night is a varied mixture of men and women. We cannot answer the question ‘how many women or men will attend?’ because we don’t take bookings. Just turn up and enjoy.”
There are stringent rules, with single men barred from a top-floor room that is reserved for couples and single women – unless they are specifically invited in.
South West professionals in the news
Men that are given permission to enter can only approach women if invited over by then, and must “respect each other’s personal space”, or face being ejected. Mobile phones are banned.
The venue states: “There is no dress code, however some ladies like to wear sexy casual or night wear.”
The club also hosts other events, such as the monthly opportunity to “explore your darker side” with “no boundaries”.
Such events are “open to all”, by which organisers mean “gay, straight, bi, trans, singles, couples, BDSM, fetish, leather, rubber, male, female”.

But it comes with the warning: “Porn of all persuasions will be shown at this event.”
The owners were contacted by Buisness Live but declined to comment. Business Live understands the sensitive nature of the business they are involved in, and that revealing the location of the business could cause problems for its clientele, neighbours and business associates, so has decided not to reveal its name or address.
But it is already attracting interest from potential purchasers.
