Tesco urgently recalls Christmas dinner favourite over fears customers could become ill

A Christmas dinner favourite has been recalled by Tesco over fears customers could become ill after eating it.

The supermarket has recalled its 300g packs of Tesco Red Cabbage & Apple due to an error on the packaging.

Affected packs incorrectly show a use by date of December 29 December, instead of the correct December 11.

Consuming the product past its shelf life poses a potential health risk, with the supermarket urging customers not to eat it.

People who have bought the product are able to return to any Tesco store for a full refund.

Tesco told customers: ‘An extension of the use by date could pose a risk to health if the product is kept past the correct shelf life on the product.

‘If you have purchased the affected product please do not eat it. Instead, return it to any Tesco store for a full refund. No receipt is required.

‘No other Tesco products are affected by this issue.’

The UK Food Standards Agency said: ‘An extension of the Use by Date could pose a risk to health, if the product is kept past the correct shelf life of the product.

‘Tesco is recalling the above product. The company have issued a recall notice to their customers.

‘This notice explains to customers why the product is being recalled and tells them what to do if they have bought the product. Please see attached notice.’
