A man couldn’t believe his eyes on his first visit to a Pizza Hut when he thought a sauce bottle ‘sounded like an app for swingers’.

Adrian Shann was shocked to discover the ‘sexual’ messaging on the ketchup bottle’s labelling when he went to the popular chain on Wednesday evening.

‘It’s not innocent in my eyes,’ said Adrian about the ‘Shake, Squeeze and Squirt’ branding he discovered in the store in Clive Sullivan Way, Hull.

The 31-year-old hairdresser, who ordered a hot and spicy pizza and fries, said the label even put him off using the tomato sauce on his meal.

He explained: ‘The barbecue sauce one said “squeeze”, but the ketchup one said that, it put me off using it.

‘It literally sounds like an app for swingers. I do not understand how someone could put that sentence together, it’s awful.’

Adrian said he was particularly concerned because the chain’s stores often hosts kids and families for meals.

He said he witnessed adults chuckling at the message from a nearby table – before having to answer awkward questions from their kids.

Adrian added: ‘The adults had a laugh and then the children were asking their parents to tell them about it.

‘If I had my niece with me, I would be worried. It’s definitely not appropriate.’

He was adamant the branding ‘is not innocent’.

The ‘Shake, Squeeze and Squirt’ tomato ketchup label has been a feature of Pizza Hut stores since at least 2019.

Adrian commented: ‘I think they were all laughing when they created it.

‘It’s not hidden, it’s on the tables.’ has contacted Pizza Hut for comment.
