The film stars Koronel in her first movie role after 13 years and co-stars Eugene Domingo and Jennica Garcia.

Directed by Jun Robles Lana, “Sisa” follows a woman who pretends to be mad to work as a spy during the Philippine-American war.

Earlier this year, the film earned its first major recognition, capturing the Best Screenplay Award at the Fantasporto International Film Festival in Portugal.

The film continues its milestones in the US, premiering in Texas at the Austin Film Festival, with an upcoming screening also lined up at the San Diego Asian Film Festival on Nov. 7.

It has also been promoted as the Closing Night feature for its Canadian premiere at the Vancouver Asian Film Festival (VAFF) on Nov. 14.

On social media, VAFF had high praise for the film, describing it as “a gripping historical revenge espionage thriller set during one of the most turbulent chapters in Philippine history.”
