Filipino American pop superstar Olivia Rodrigo sings about her desire for a committed relationship in her first Christmas song, “Take Me Home (4 Christmas).”
Released Nov. 5, the holiday track is accompanied by a music video featuring Ben Marshall of “Saturday Night Live” and Cynthia Nixon of “Sex and the City.”
Ahead of the track’s release, Rodrigo’s longtime producer Dan Nigro offered playful praise on Instagram, calling it “definitely not my least favorite song we’ve ever made.”
In her debut holiday single, co-written with Nigro and Amy Allen, Rodrigo expresses her desire for a serious commitment, wishing her partner would take her home for Christmas to meet his parents.
“I want you to take me home and not so we can make out,” she sings. “I want you to take me home. Take me home to your parents’ house.”
The Christmas release comes weeks after Rodrigo’s collaboration with fellow pop star and friend Chappell Roan, “Expectations (Remix),” reached the top five of the Billboard Hot 100.
That same week, Rodrigo’s third studio album, “You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love,” spent its third week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
