For his latest musical homecoming, Apl.de.Ap turned to one of Filipino rock’s most recognizable voices.
The Black Eyed Peas member teamed up with Bamboo for “Why,” one track from his newly released EP, “PPP” (Power to the Pilipino People), a project centered on Filipino identity, hope and unity.
While the three-track release also features J-Rey Soul and Datu Khomeni, “Why” places both “The Voice of the Philippines” former coaches together on a song that balances patriotism with introspection, reflecting both the beauty of the Philippines and the challenges it continues to face.

Sharing the story behind the collaboration, Apl.de.Ap described the song as deeply personal.
“Why is a love letter to the country. And like any love story, there is heartbreak in what’s happening,” he posted.
In a separate Instagram post, Apl.de.Ap thanked Bamboo for lending his voice to the track.
“Thank you to my brother @bamboomuzaklive for getting on Why with me,” he wrote.
Bamboo responded warmly in the comments, writing, “Honored to be part of this one. Thank you for having me. Let the music speak.”
Beyond “Why,” Apl.de.Ap explained that the entire EP carries a broader message of collective action. He revealed that PPP stands for “Power of Pilipino People,” a phrase he intentionally modeled after the familiar acronym for public-private partnerships.
