As rock band Journey moves closer to the finale of its Final Frontier farewell tour, Filipino frontman Arnel Pineda pulls back the curtain on what he describes as a deeply uncertain moment in his life.
In a social media post, the longtime vocalist addressed a lingering perception about his absence from interviews, opening with a direct apology.

He wrote, “good day everyone..just wanna take the time to apologize to everyone who’s attempted to reach out and secure an interview w/ me over the years…me being aloof wasn’t intentional nor a disrespect, it’s just that, there’s nothing to tell much…”

He also admitted that fear has been his constant companion since stepping into the role once held by Steve Perry. Pineda shared that he has felt “scared” from the very beginning up to the present, even as he fulfilled what he believed was his duty to uphold the band’s legacy, a role he took on after being brought in by guitarist Neal Schon.
He directly thanked supporters, writing, “to the believers, #thankyou,” while also extending appreciation to critics, non-believers and purists who have questioned his place in Journey, saying he understands their perspective.
What lies ahead
Perhaps the most telling part of his message, however, centered on what lies ahead.
Without going into detail, Pineda revealed he is entering a new and unfamiliar phase in his life, describing it as “still kinda scary” because of its uncertainty.
He asked for understanding, writing, “again,THANK YOU and i just wanna urge your respect to my privacy as i navigate a new chapter in my life that’s still kinda scary coz for me,its unknown…” while making it clear that he is not ready to share more.
As Journey’s farewell tour continues toward its scheduled July 2 stop in Laredo, Texas, with more shows expected in 2027, Pineda’s message underscores a moment of transition.
Onstage, the music carries on. Offstage, the singer appears to be quietly preparing for whatever comes next.
