A group of bars backed by cricket stars is facing an uncertain future due to ‘challenging’ trading.
Sixes Social Cricket, which operates 17 venues across England and another in the West Indies, called in administrators on Wednesday, just days before the festive period.
Its location in Southampton will close with immediate effect following the announcement, while all other sites will remain open as usual.
However, the remaining bars will continue to trade amid hopes of a rescue deal.

Administrators say they are in talks with a ‘number of interested parties’ to salvage the chain.
Founded by Calum Mackinnon and Andy Waugh, Sixes is one of several brands in an expanding ‘competitive socialising’ space, alongside other venue groups such as Junkyard Golf and Flight Club.
Mr Stokes was among the stars to invest in the chain through the 4Cast Investment Group, which also includes cricketers Jofra Archer and Stuart Broad.
However, the chain said it had suffered as a result of ‘reduced customer spending’ and increased competition, despite boasting some high-performing sites.
Tony Wright, a partner at administrator FRP, said: ‘Sixes has built a strong brand in the social entertainment space with its unique venues proving very popular with customers.

‘While some locations have struggled in an increasingly competitive market, the business has significant potential, and we’re encouraged by the early interest we’ve received from parties interested in acquiring the brand and its strongest-performing sites.
‘Our priority is to secure the best outcome for the business and its stakeholders while ensuring customers can continue to enjoy their bookings through the Christmas period and beyond.
‘We’re confident that with the right investment and focus, Sixes can build on its core strengths.’
Existing bookings at all venues except Southampton will reportedly be honoured during the administration process.
