He might stay out of the limelight much of the time, but even Barron Trump couldn’t resist the lure of the World Cup final.

Sunday night saw Spain lift the coveted trophy at the final in New Jersey with a 1-0 victory over Argentina, as Ferran Torres nabbed the only goal of the game in the second half of extra time.

among the winning team as he did — the rest of the family were also there to watch the game, with Barron among them.

The 20-year-old son of Donald and Melania is rarely seen at public events but he was spotted in a box at the Metlife Stadium in East Rutherford, alongside world leaders and FIFA President Gianni Infantino.

In fact, the president praised his son for keeping him up to speed on the football, and which players he should keep an eye on.

‘Messi is great, and Ronaldo is great, and I hate to say this, but I watched Pele when he was with the Cosmos,’ Trump said. ‘I got to see Pelé play. These are great players.’

He added: ‘There are some others. I get this information from my son. Barron, is a tremendous soccer fan.

‘You really have some other really incredible players playing here but I would say right now, when you look, I have always liked Ronaldo, I’ve always liked Messi.

‘I met Messi just recently and I have known Cristiano. They have a pretty good life — much easier than my life, actually!’

Norwegian news outlet VG also reported recently that Trump is a fan of Norwegian striker Erling Haaland, a fact he shared with Norway’s Prime Minister at the recent NATO summit in Ankara.

And Barron’s not only a fan of football, but has played in the past, having been on the academy roster for Major League Soccer’s DC United when he was just 11 years old.

Speaking on CBS’ Face The Nation in 2019, Trump explained that he ‘plays a lot of soccer’, adding that American football would have been too dangerous.

While Barron might have been spotted at the match,it was a different story when it came to the family photos at the game.

One snap, shared by Eric Trump to Instagram, features him with siblings Ivanka and Donald Trump Jr, as well as sister Tiffany and his wife Lara Trump. However, Barron is nowhere to be seen in the photo.

It’s not unusual for him to be absent from family get-togethers and gatherings, as he was also missing from Donald Jr’s wedding to Bettina Anderson in the Bahamas in May.

However, the six-foot-nine inch student was seen at the Freedom 250 UFC fight on the White House Lawn back in June — sending social media into a frenzy with a new hairstyle and facial stubble — as well as attending the State Of The Union address in February this year.

And sources reckon he might step out of the shadows and give us more Barron for our buck in the future.

‘He has a bright future ahead of him, whatever he chooses to do,’ a source told the Daily Mail, adding that the elusive Barron ‘is really starting to resemble his father’.

Away from his (admittedly rare) public appearances, Barron is currently studying at New York University’s Stern School of Business campus in Washington DC.

His preference for privacy was discussed by Lara Trump on her podcast The Right View With Lara Trump earlier this year, suggesting that the interest in Barron stems from the fact that he’s not seen in public too often.

‘I feel like he’s the sleeper,’ she said. ‘You want to hear more about Barron ’cause you see less of him. And I think that’s kind of cool.’

Lara added that that while she wasn’t sure how much attention Barron pays to internet gossip, the public interest in him is one reason why he keeps a low profile.

‘That’s why he likes to play it cool. That’s why you don’t see him all the time,’ she explained.
