A woman in her 20s has been stabbed to death in the middle of a London high street.
Emergency services were called to Croydon town centre in south London just before 9am today.
She was found unresponsive just minutes from the Centrale Shopping Centre.
A man in his 30s was taken to hospital with minor injuries and has since been arrested on suspicion of murder.
Witness Sebastian, who was one of the first to find the victim, said he ‘still shaken up’ over the attack.
He told The Sun: ‘I ran over to go and look – some people told me not to go – but it was a natural reaction.
‘She seemed so young, such a beautiful young girl.’
Superintendent Mitch Carr said: ‘This is a tragic incident where a young woman has lost her life and our thoughts are with her loved ones.
‘I especially want to thank the members of the public, including a teenage boy, who bravely tried to help the victim.
‘We believe that this was an isolated incident, but understand that this news will shock the local community.
‘Officers will remain in the area over the coming days and we would ask anyone who has concerns to speak with them.’
