Boy, 14, dies after stabbing near Manchester pub

A murder investigation has been launched after a teenage boy was stabbed to death in Manchester.

The 14-year-old was found with stab wounds on Nevin Road in New Moston at about 5pm yesterday.

Despite the efforts of the paramedics, the boy succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.

An eyewitness told Manchester Evening News the boy had run into his doorway after the attack, screaming ‘I don’t want to die.’

Two boys, aged 14 and 16, were arrested on suspicion of murder, and they remain in custody for questioning.

A 14-year-old girl and a 37-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

A large cordon remains in place around Nevin Road, with a second cordon outside the Fairway Inn pub nearby.

Detective Chief Inspector John Charlton said: ‘This incident will have shocked and saddened the local community, and distressed anyone who witnessed it.

‘We are deploying significant resources to this murder investigation, and this led to quickly identifying potential suspects.

‘We are still trying to establish the full circumstances around the incident – there will be a large police presence and several scenes in place while we continue to investigate this horrific incident.

‘The boy’s family are being supported by our officers and we are determined to give them the answers they deserve.’

An air ambulance helicopter landed in Nuthurst Park as part of the emergency response to the incident.
