Filipino American content creator Bretman Rock turned social media into a space for cultural pride by embracing one of the Philippines’ most traditional garments, the bahag, a handwoven garment traditionally worn by various indigenous groups across the Philippines
Known for his bold fashion choices and unapologetic self-expression, Bretman used his massive platform to spotlight indigenous Filipino heritage in his own way.
On Instagram, the internet personality shared a video of himself outdoors, confidently wearing a bahag. The clip showed Bretman basking in the moment, relaxed and radiant, as he stood outside his home fully embracing the cultural significance of what he was wearing.
The post immediately resonated with fans, racking up nearly eight million views in a short span of time.
Accompanying the video was a caption that left no room for ambiguity about where his heart lies. “I’m Filipino af,” Bretman wrote, a statement that quickly became a rallying cry for followers who applauded his continued celebration of his roots.
In the reel itself, Bretman doubled down on that confidence, saying, “I could literally be in my bahag all day because I can and who’s going to tell me I can’t? Nobody.”
Over the years, Rock has consistently used his influence to celebrate where he comes from whether through language, humor, or fashion.
