Christian Bautista finds perfect match in Abi Marquez for latest duet

“Asia’s Romantic Balladeer” Christian Bautista has been serenading hearts for more than 20 years. From heartfelt wedding ballads to go-to contest pieces on “The Voice” and “The Clash,” his music continues to bring that familiar feeling of warm love.

Looking back, Bautista – who was recognized with a TOFA award in Las Vegas recently – describes his journey as one full of twists and turns. “The journey has been a rollercoaster one — ups, downs, good, great, bad,” he shared in an exclusive chat with USNewsRank. 

Despite it all, he’s learned to embrace every part of the ride.

“If you keep on working towards your goal, keep on being authentic, keep on having faith, you will get somewhere. Take it one step at a time, one pitch at a time, and continue to connect with your audience and love what you do,” he said, reflecting on the mindset that’s kept him grounded all these years.

A fresh phase in his career

Now entering a fresh phase in his career, he remains true to his romantic sound while exploring new musical flavors in the US to expand his music.

“Right now, it’s still ballads of course,” he said. “But with my latest song ‘Rainbow,’ it’s like a bit of an R&B. And with my duet with Abi Marquez, it’s a little bit of a Jose Mari Chan Christmas vibe. I’m always open to experimenting, but the very core of every experimentation is the ballad.”

His collaboration with content creator and “lumpia queen” Abi Marquez was a pleasant surprise and it all started on a plane ride.

“I was on a plane to Cebu and Jose Mari Chan was there. He said, ‘Christian, you should do a cover of my duet ‘Let Love Be the Gift.’ And I just said, ‘Yes sir, sure!’” he recalled with a laugh.

“Abi Marquez is a great collaborator and I want to bring out her singing prowess because she’s a singer, as well. Watch out for the music video — with food of course!” Bautista teased.

After two decades in the spotlight, Bautista continues to do what he does best: sing from the heart, connect with people and remind everyone that love never goes out of season.
