In 2025, as more Filipino artists gain global recognition – from Sofronio Vasquez’s win on “The Voice” to Jessica Sanchez’s return on America’s Got Talent – Christian Bautista remains a steady presence as he continues to represent Filipino talent on the international stage.

The balladeer and actor was recently recognized in Las Vegas as one of the 2025 TOFA (The Outstanding Filipinos in America) Awardees, honoring his lasting contributions to the music industry and his role in uplifting Filipino talent across borders.

When asked how it feels to be part of this growing wave of global Filipino representation, Bautista reflected on the movement with pride and perspective.

“I think there are a lot more artists who are being part of this wave. And that’s exactly what it is, it’s a wave and we gotta ride it,” he told USNewsRank in an exclusive interview. He encourages fellow artists to embrace the moment and push boundaries while the world is watching.

Bautista, whose timeless hit “The Way You Look at Me” earned him fans across Asia in the early 2000s, once again sets his sights on the international scene – this time with new material and exciting collaborations in the works.

“Yeah, that’s what we’re doing. Looking for collaborations and meeting the right people, expanding our territories and hoping for the best,” he shared.

Among his dream collaborators? Adele, whom he describes as the ultimate artist he would love to work with someday.

On being a mentor

Bautista has also taken on a more visible role as a mentor and judge on singing competitions like “The Clash.” In that capacity, he’s helping young singers build fundamentals for long-term careers.

He says that the job comes with pressure. Advising hopefuls who are chasing big dreams means his comments can influence their next steps.

That process, he admits, often takes him back to his early days in the industry. “It reminds me of my energy in the first few years of my career,” he said. “It reminds me of the fire I have for this passion.”

Those memories help him stay patient when a performer needs time to find their voice and remind him why mentorship matters beyond a single TV season.
