All files related to Jeffrey Epstein, as well as any information about the investigation into his death in a federal prison in 2019, will be released by the end of this week.
The Epstein Transparency Act was passed in November after a major campaign, spearheaded by sex trafficker Epstein’s survivors, moved swiftly through the House and Senate.
It’s been almost 30 days since that historic vote – meaning that by this Friday, December 19, all of the files will have to be released and made available to the public.
Many court documents – including flight logs for Epstein’s private jet – have already been made public, but many more remain sealed, raising speculation over who else could be implicated.
It’s still unclear how much the files will be redacted or what names will be published, but the new trove of information could prove to be invaluable.
What could be in the new files?
Thousands of records relating to Epstein and his crimes have already been released within the past few years.
The ‘Transparency Act’ states that the Justice Department must release ‘searchable and downloadable’ copies of ‘all unclassified records, documents, communications, and investigative materials’ related to both Epstein and his associate, Ghislaine Maxwell.
These could include immunity deals, travel logs, past investigations and internal documents about Epstein’s death in a prison cell in 2019, which was ruled a suicide.
The newly released files could be PDFs, videos, photographs, audio recordings and scans of written records and notes. Any materials showing physical abuse or child sexual abuse will remain classified.
Interviews with witnesses to Epstein’s crimes and court documents will also likely be released.
But, many of the documents could be heavily redacted due to any potential concerns about ’embarrassment, reputational harm, or political sensitivity’, with these applying to ‘any government official, public figure, or foreign dignitary.’
So if a leading political figure is mentioned in the newly released files this weekend, there’s a high chance the name will be blacked out.
What has already been released?
Democrats have already revealed disturbing images taken from Epstein’s private island, Little St James, where he raped and held captive young women and girls.
On a blackboard at the dead billionaire’s bolthole, someone wrote ‘Power’ and ‘Deception’ with other names redacted.
A disturbing photo of Epstein soaking in a bathtub was in a second batch of intimate pictures released from the late financier’s estate.
President Trump appeared in person, on condoms, and as a Halloween ‘Trumpkin’ in newly released photos last week, which he called ‘no big deal’.
The cache, which included a host of never-before-seen images, featured highly influential figures, including Bill Gates, former president Bill Clinton and Richard Branson.
One of the images released shows former Prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Bill Gates.
The images are from Epstein’s estate and were obtained by the Republican-led committee as part of its ongoing investigation.
None of the images indicate any sexual misconduct, and there is no suggestion that the women pictured are underage. It is unclear who took many of the photos and when, as they are undated.
