Donald Trump announced he will pause attacks on Iran for two weeks just hours after threatening that ‘whole civilisation will die.’
Trump has hailed today’s ceasefire agreement as a ‘big day for world peace’ after Tehran said it will allow the safe passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz.
The US president said on Truth Social this morning: ‘Iran wants it to happen, they’ve had enough! Likewise, so has everyone else! The United States of America will be helping with the traffic buildup in the Strait of Hormuz.
‘There will be lots of positive action! Big money will be made. Iran can start the reconstruction process.’
He added this ‘could be the golden age of the Middle East.’
The Strait of Hormuz, key oil route, has been blocked since the start of attacks by US and Israel.
Iran’s security council said it will now hand in a 10-point plan to the US through Pakistan.
However, it said that the war was not over.
Meanwhile on the streets of Tehran, pro-government protests took place following the ceasefire announcement.
Demonstrators chanted and some burned the American and Israeli flags.
