Disruption is expected to continue at Gatwick after the airport’s busiest day of the Christmas period was impacted by fog yesterday.

Flights to everywhere from Belfast and Tenerife to Kraków, Poland, and Accra, Ghana, have been delayed by as much as an hour and a half this morning. Live arrivals boards also show slight delays to incoming flights. According to the monitoring website FlightStats,

The Met Office says no fog is expected to engulf Gatwick today, with only some cloud forecast. Temporary air restrictions set by Britain’s air traffic control provider Nats yesterday have since been lifted.

Fog clogged up the skies over the West Sussex airport yesterday. At some points, pilots were unable to see anything beyond about 200 metres in front of them, according to FlightRadar24. Visibility now stands at 9,999 metres.

Heathrow, Stansted and other major airports were and still are largely unaffected.
