E10 petrol became the default unleaded petrol sold on British forecourts from Wednesday, September 1.
The fuel contains up to 10% renewable ethanol, which is added to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and help tackle climate change.
However, estimates suggest between 600,000 and 700,000 older vehicles will not be able to use E10.
