“She came. she spoke. she conquered.”

Netflix’s hit series “Wednesday” has delivered plenty of dark humor and gothic thrills since its debut, but Season 2 has managed to surprise fans with something entirely unexpected: a Filipino twist

In the sixth episode, aptly titled “Woe Thyself,” characters Enid Sinclair and newcomer Bruno Yuson are heard speaking Tagalog, sparking waves of excitement across the Filipino community online.

Emma Myers, who plays Enid Sinclair, admitted the scene was a challenge to film. In a behind-the-scenes interview posted on Netflix’s official Instagram account, she confessed she was nervous watching it back.

“Oh my God. I can’t watch this. I haven’t seen any of this. Oh my God. I’m gonna close my eyes,” Myers said as the clip rolled.

She shared that both she and costar Noah Taylor spent hours rehearsing their Tagalog lines outside their trailers. “Wait, I did it! It’s such a hard language. The two of us were literally pacing outside of our trailers just reciting it,” Myers revealed.

She added that they gave their best effort: “That was probably the only good take they got of me saying it.”

The moment quickly became one of the most talked-about scenes from the latest batch of episodes. Bruno, a half-Filipino werewolf portrayed by Filipino American actor Noah Taylor, enters the storyline as a mysterious new character. While his heritage alone piqued audience curiosity, it was the sudden use of Tagalog that truly set social media buzzing.

The episode itself places the Filipino dialogue in a dramatic context. After a body-swap mishap, Wednesday (inside Enid’s body) overhears Bruno’s secretive Tagalog phone call, leading to a tense confrontation. The climax lands with Enid declaring, “’Wag mo na akong kausapin, manlolokong taksil.”
