An environmental group known for its frequent use of lawsuits has vowed to challenge the first federal oil and gas lease auction in Kern in eight years.
The Arizona-based Center for Biological Diversity said last week it was targeting a federal plan to auction in December seven plots totaling about 4,330 acres in or near existing oil fields in the county.
