Presidential candidate Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva hailed ‘democracy’ after defeating far-right Jair Bolsonaro to become the next leader of Brazil.
Mr Da Silva, known as Lula, received 50.9% of the vote and Mr Bolsonaro 49.1%, according to the country’s election authority.
