Broadway’s biggest celebration on Sunday turned into a memorable night for Filipino American talent as Darren Criss and Nicole Scherzinger shared the stage at the 2026 Tony Awards and co-presented one of the night’s acting categories.
While introducing the category, Scherzinger jokingly teased Criss by saying he “gave the world happy endings,” a playful nod to his acclaimed musical “Maybe Happy Ending.”

After a beat of comedic timing, the two exchanged knowing smiles before enthusiastically telling the audience, “Happy Pride everyone!”

Criss and Scherzinger both won their first Tony last year.
Scherzinger clinched “Best Performance by an Actress in a Musical” while Criss bagged the “Best Performance by an Actor in a Musical.”
Scherzinger starred in Jamie Lloyd’s modern revival of “Sunset Boulevard,” while Criss led the musical “Maybe Happy Ending,” which he also produced.
79th Annual Tony Awards
The 79th Annual Tony Awards, hailed as one of the most memorable telecasts in recent years, took place on June 7 at Radio City Music Hall.
The evening’s top honors were awarded to “Schmigadoon!” which won Best Musical, and Bess Wohl’s “Liberation,” recognized as Best Play.

“Death of a Salesman” and “Ragtime” took home the awards for Best Revival of a Play and Best Revival of a Musical, respectively.
“Death of a Salesman” emerged as the evening’s standout, collecting an impressive six Tonys – the highest number awarded to any production this season.
John Lithgow from “Giant” and Lesley Manville from “Oedipus” were honored as Best Actor and Actress in a Play, respectively.
In the musical categories, Joshua Henry and Caissie Levy won Best Actor and Actress in a Musical for their compelling performances as Coalhouse Walker Jr. and Mother in “Ragtime.”
