Filipina Gwyn Dorado places 2nd in ‘Sing Again 4,’ tops judges’ scores

After setting the highest score in Korea’s “Sing Again 4,” Filipina singer Gwyn Dorado wrapped up her journey on the show by finishing second overall in the grand finals.

Dorado entered the finale as one of the season’s most consistent standouts. Although she placed second, Dorado ranked first in the judges’ final scores, earning 766.49 points.

To put the results into context, the “Sing Again 4” Final Show followed a weighted scoring system. This was composed of early online voting (10 percent), first-round final digital music score (20 percent), judges’ scores during the finals (30 percent) and real-time text and online voting (40 percent).

Though the “Asia’s Got Talent” finalist placed first in judges’ final scores, she ranked third in early online voting, second in digital music scores and second in real-time voting.

While she led in the judges’ evaluation, the heavier weight of real-time voting ultimately worked in favor of eventual winner Lee O-wook, who ranked first in all categories except the judges’ score, where he placed fourth.

Lee O-wook amassed a total score of 3,051.06, securing the top spot along with a 300 million won cash prize (approximately $207,367 or Php. 12.26 million). Dorado followed closely behind with a final score of 3,009.39. Kim Jae-min placed third with 2,402.14 points, while Slowly finished fourth with 1,537.42.

Despite narrowly missing the top spot, Dorado’s run ended on a high note. Along with the other finalists, she signed an exclusive contract with Music Farm, the entertainment agency home to respected Korean artists such as Lee Juck, Kim Dong-ryul and John Park.
