Fire breaks out at RAF base used by US Air Force for operations against Iran

A fire has erupted at a UK military base being used by US bombers to hit Iran.

The blaze broke out at RAF Fairford in the early hours of Sunday morning, with residents being told to keep their windows closed.

Videos and pictures posted on social media appear to show the fire started at a unit on the base with the roof of the building collapsed.

The spokesperson warned residents to keep their doors and windows closed due to smoke from the fire.

RAF Fairford is used by the United States Air Force (USAF) to launch defensive strikes against Iran.

Protests have taken place outside the air base in response and around 200 people gathered there on Saturday.

Activists held up placards that read ‘no war on Iran’, US out of British bases’ and ‘stop Trump’s deadly war’.
