Dozens of firefighters and ten engines are responding to a large fire behind a Jewish supermarket in Golders Green.

The London Fire Brigade first received calls around 6.47am about a large fire at commercial premises behind Kosher Kingdom.

The cause of the blaze is currently unknown, the London Fire Brigade said.

Crews from Finchley, Willesden, West Hampstead and surrounding fire stations have been dispatched to the scene.

In a statement, the brigade said: ‘Firefighters are currently responding to a fire on Golders Green Road in Golders Green.

‘The fire has occurred in a building which is three storeys, with a shop on the ground floor and premises above.

‘The fire is producing a significant amount of smoke, and we’re advising people in the area to keep their windows and doors shut at this time.’

Road closures are in place near the fire, including on Golders Green Road and near the junction with Beverley Gardens.

Residents have been urged to avoid the area while the firefighters extinguish the blaze.

In the last few months, the community in Golders Green has faced a number of fires.

One of these was an arson attack on a Jewish ambulance service, which is being treated as a hate crime.
