The former leader of the far-right British National Party has appeared in court over a cartoon he shared online.
Nick Griffin, 66, is accused of stirring up racial hatred by making a ‘threatening, abusive or insulting’ post.
The cartoon was said to feature imagery including a giant spider with a Star of David on its head.
Griffin, who is being privately prosecuted by the Campaign Against Antisemitism, also faces a second count of stirring up racial hatred.
A provisional trial date has been set for May 2027, but a hearing was held today in relation to whether his lawyers can apply to dismiss the case.

Appearing via video-link at Southwark Crown Court on Monday, Griffin was told his team could make such an application at a hearing in April 2026.
Judge Christopher Hehir ordered the 66-year-old, of Welshpool, central Wales, to return to court on that date.
