Freestyle heads to Canada for four-city concert tour

Iconic OPM band Freestyle is set to reconnect with Filipino fans abroad as the group embarks on a four-city concert tour across Canada this August.

The band announced the upcoming performances through social media, where they expressed their excitement about meeting supporters who have continued to embrace their music over the years.

“CANADA, HERE WE COME! Our Canada Tour is almost here, and we couldn’t be more excited to reunite with all of you,” they wrote. “Whether you’ve been with us from the beginning or recently discovered our music, thank you for keeping these songs alive through the years.”

The tour begins on Aug. 7 at the Oasis Convention Centre in Toronto. From there, Freestyle will travel to Edmonton for a show at River Cree Resort Casino on Aug. 8.

After a brief break, the band resumes the tour with a performance in Winnipeg on Aug. 14 at Petrus Hall (St. Peter’s Church), before wrapping up the series of concerts on Aug. 15 at the Chandos Pattison Auditorium in Vancouver.

Produced by NY Entourage Productions, the “It’s About Time” Canada Tour is expected to bring together longtime fans and younger listeners who discovered the band’s catalog through streaming platforms and social media.

Freestyle remains one of the most recognizable names in the OPM scene, known for blending pop, R&B and soul into a signature sound that has resonated across generations. Their songs continue to enjoy strong support from Filipinos both in the Philippines and overseas, making them a staple in karaoke sessions, road trips and nostalgic playlists.

Among the band’s best-loved hits are “Before I Let You Go,” “This Time” and “So Slow.” These tracks helped establish Freestyle as one of the defining OPM acts of the late 1990s and early 2000s.
