A young girl has died in hospital days after a car crash which saw another boy suffer serious injuries.
The two children were injured when their Skoda Karoq smashed into a VW Golf in A59 junction with Strawberry Fields, Lancashire at 3.55pm last Thursday
The driver of the Skoda, a woman in her 60s, and two passengers – a girl and boy both aged five – suffered severe injuries.
A Lancashire Police spokesman said: ‘Very sadly, the little girl died in hospital yesterday afternoon.
‘All our thoughts are with her family at this very distressing time, and they are being supported by specially trained family liaison officers.

‘The driver of the Skoda and the boy passenger, remain in hospital being treated for their injuries.
‘The driver of the VW, a man in his 20s, also suffered serious injuries and also remains in hospital.
‘He is being treated as a witness in our investigation.’
Sgt Laura Kendall, said: ‘It is heartbreaking news that the little girl has passed away and my thoughts first and foremost are with her family and loved ones.
‘My thoughts also continue to be with the three people who remain in hospital being treated for the injuries they received in this terrible collision.
‘I must stress that the investigation into the collision is ongoing, and it is still in its early stages in determining exactly what happened.’
She added: ‘We continue to appeal for anyone who witnessed it or has dashcam footage from the area around the time it happened – who haven’t yet contacted us – to please get in touch.’
