Girl killed after minibus full of teenagers crashes into car on rural Yorkshire road

A driver has been arrested after a teenager was killed in a horror minibus crash in North Yorkshire.

Police are investigating the tragic death of the gitl who was a passenger in when their vehicle crashed into a car in Tadcaster at around 12.28pm on Monday.

Witnesses of the crash on Toulston Lane at the junction with Rudgate are being asked to come forward.

The white Mercedes Sprinter minibus was heading towards Sherburn and the light-colored Hyundai i10 car entered Toulston Lane from Rudgate.

The minibus was carrying nine passengers aged 16 to 18, North Yorkshire Police said.

The victim was declared dead at the scene.

Another teenage girl was taken to hospital by ambulance with serious injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.

The other passengers, and the man driving the minibus, have received treatment at hospital for minor injuries.

The driver of the Hyundai, a 40-year-old woman, has been arrested in connection with the investigation.

Toulston Lane remains closed to traffic as police enquiries continue.

A spokesman said: ‘We are appealing for any witnesses or motorists with relevant dashcam footage to come forward as soon as possible.

‘We are not in a position to identify the girl at this time. We are continuing to support her family and further updates will be issued when appropriate to do so.’

‘We urge everyone to respect the family’s wish to grieve in private.’
