Drone footage released by the service showed flames spreading close to homes, with thick smoke billowing across the town.

Stourbridge Town Hall has been opened as a rescue center for people who have been forced to leave their homes.

In a warning issued on social media, West Midlands Fire Service urged people across the region to take extra care and avoid activities that could start further fires.

Residents directly affected by an ongoing fire were told not to attempt to tackle the flames themselves.

People were also urged to avoid driving through areas affected by dense smoke and not to travel to fire scenes to watch.

Meanwhile, Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service is dealing with another ‘large fire’ in Salford Priors, near Stratford-upon-Avon.

Residents in the area have been told to close all doors and windows as crews tackle the blaze.

Police, firefighters and ambulance crews are at the scene, with the incident having been declared a major incident.

The two fires come as fire services across the region face increased demand, with residents being urged to take precautions and avoid putting further pressure on emergency crews.
