Haiti earthquake death toll approaches 2,000 with nearly 10,000 injured

Nearly 2,000 people are now known to have died in the devastating earthquake which hit Haiti this weekend.
Some 9,900 people have also been injured, according to the latest count from the Civil Protection Agency – which put the steadily rising death toll at 1,941 on Tuesday.
