Raging hangovers are best dealt with bacon sarnies, paracetamol, pints of water, and the Hollyoaks omnibus.

But these poor souls were forced to ‘dig their way out’ of a wedding venue after they became snowed in.

Guests who had driven to the wedding at Raven Hall near Scarborough had to abandon cars after the freezing weather conditions took a turn for the worse on Wednesday night.

Mark Dalton, who attended with his family, said around 40 percent of those who hadn’t booked a room were left snowed in the next morning.

Hands up – who’d want to be in this situation with a raging hangover? (Picture: Mark Dalton/MEN Media)

This was only the beginning of the ‘most eventful wedding’ he’d been to.

There was no let up the next morning. Tired, freezing and hungover, guests were put into a convoy of ten cars that were ‘completely stuck’ by snow.

Cue snow shovelling in suits and hangover-induced vomiting – the sofa and comfort food couldn’t have seemed further away.

Mark, who also managed to capture the stranded guests on his drone, said: ‘We were stuck on bloody Beck Hill – a name that I imagine was well-earned.

‘It was like something out of a bad movie. Everyone was dressed in the wrong clothes – wedding suits and high heels – so they were unable to help dig the cars out. Occasionally, you would see a bridesmaid get out of a car to throw up from a hangover and then crawl back inside.

‘One guy threw himself on the bonnet of his car to act as a ballast because it was electric. Others were trying desperately to get their cars out of snow ditches, but it was impossible. There were about ten cars all stuck on the route.’

Salvation came in the form of a van full of shovels and carpets to rescue guests back to Scarborough, with some ending the ordeal back in the pub.

Bed and a takeaway never seemed more appealing.

What’s the weather like this weekend?A bit milder – but very wet.
