As Donald Trump’s approval rating drops to just 30% — the lowest figure recorded in his second term — former President Joe Biden has called his successor a ‘loser.’
While speaking at a Maryland Democrats gala this weekend, the former President launched an attack on Trump’s recent ‘vanity projects’ in the White House and the wider Washington, D.C. area.

This includes his ‘East Wing Modernization Project,’ which will see the complete demolition and reconstruction of the White House East Wing.
The project involves replacing the historic 90,000-square-foot East Wing structure with a sprawling 1,000-capacity ballroom, and is expected to cost $400 million, if not more.
There’s also the botched Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool on the National Mall, which earlier this month Trump claimed was bigger than the Empire State Building.
Ahead of the US’s 250th birthday on July 4, Trump was reported to have spent over $16 million on the landmark.
The President was later mocked and criticised when a young duckling was found dead in the pool after Trump’s ‘renovation’ saw employees pour hydrogen peroxide in the waters.
A former Olympic athlete was even arrested after touching the slime-filled pool.
David Hearn, 67, was checking out the pool, which, as Trump has boasted, was recently painted ‘American flag blue.’
But while there, Hearn noticed part of the blue liner had detached from the pool’s bottom.
After he reached into the water to see what it felt like, he was cuffed and charged with destruction of government property.
Hearn’s arrest was part of a wider manifesto from Trump and other members of his administration, who have continued to claim that vandals are messing with his ‘magnificent’ Reflecting Pool.
Touching on these projects in his speech, Biden said: ‘Tearing down the East Wing of the White House, making room for his ballroom? Putting his name on the Kennedy Center. Building an arch in his own honor. Even hiring his own pool guy to fix the reflecting pool.’
After being met with loud cheering from the Democratic attendees, Biden then proclaimed: ‘Whoa, what a loser.’
Biden continued his rant at the current President, where he accused him of ‘brazen, blatant corruption.’
This was in relation to the reflecting pool, in which a Trump donor was presented with a $1.7m no-bid filtration system contract by the federal government.
It was revealed this donor happened to be a neighbor of Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club in Florida. The President referred to them as his ‘pool guy.’
Biden said that this ‘reflects something even worse than the narcissism and incompetence at the core of this administration.’
‘It’s the corruption – the corruption, the brazen, blatant corruption. Corruption on a scale never seen before in American history in any administration.’
Elsewhere during Biden’s 10-minute speech, he claimed that the Trump family as a collective are also responsible for ‘corruption.’ In that, they have been cashing in on his second term.
The Trump dynasty has long been accused of leveraging his position for financial gain, including making merchandise deals and hosting official political events at his properties.
The White House previously dismissed this, calling the accusations ‘the same, tired narrative that Democrats have pushed against President Trump, his family, and his administration for a decade.’
Spokesperson Anna Kelly also stated that ‘President Trump only acts in the best interests of the American public — which is why they overwhelmingly re-elected him to this office, despite years of lies and false accusations against him and his businesses from the fake news media. There are no conflicts of interest.’
Responding to these allegations at the Democrats’ gala, Biden said: ‘He has no shame, and frankly it’s embarrassing for the country. But Trump? Trump could care less.’
