Katseye’s Yoonchae says she cried after meeting BTS backstage in Las Vegas

Katseye members Yoonchae and Sophia Laforteza couldn’t hide their excitement after coming face-to-face with BTS backstage during the Las Vegas stop of the Arirang World Tour, with the experience leaving one in tears and the other momentarily forgetting how to speak her native language.

The encounter became a hot topic among fans after the Katseye members opened up about it during a Weverse live.

For Yoonchae, meeting the seven-member K-pop powerhouse was so overwhelming that she struggled to process what had just happened.

‘When I get nervous, I forget Korean’

“I started crying because we did meet and greet with them. After that, I was like, my brain was blank,” said Yoonchae.

The singer recalled meeting all seven BTS members before they headed onstage and was struck by how warm and approachable they were despite their global fame.

“We got to meet all the members, and they were all so down-to-earth. They were so kind. I was being a ‘yappetron’ again. I was like yapping, but in a good way. Like we were all yapping, and it was really nice. They were really nice. They were so kind.”

The nerves, however, got the better of her. According to Sophia, she noticed Yoonchae unusually quiet during the interaction and jokingly wondered why the Korean member was not taking advantage of speaking in her own language.

“Then I looked to my right and Yoonchae, wasn’t speaking. She was trying to compose herself, and then I was like, ‘Yoonchae is Korean, she can speak Korean right?’” she recalled.

Yoonchae later admitted that excitement completely scrambled her thoughts.

“My heart dropped… and I was like I forgot Korean again. When I get nervous, I forget Korean,” Yoonchae candidly shared.

Sophia, meanwhile, was equally impressed by the night’s events. Reflecting on BTS’ performance, she praised the group for delivering the kind of show fans have come to expect from one of the biggest acts in the world.

“It was really good. They did very well, they did a really good job as they do,” she said.

The memorable meeting took place during BTS’ concert at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

Fans had earlier spotted Katseye members Sophia, Yoonchae and Megan attending the second night of the show on May 24.

A behind-the-scenes glimpse later surfaced in Jung Kook’s Instagram vlog, which documented BTS’ pre-show preparations.

The video showed the members stretching and joking around before taking the stage, while RM was also seen dancing to Katseye’s latest track, “Pinky Up.”
