‘KPop Demon Hunters’ voice EJAE to drop single ‘In Another World’

Korean American singer songwriter EJAE, the soulful voice behind Rumi in Netflix’s breakout animated hit “KPop Demon Hunters,” is stepping into the spotlight once more with her own music. 

The artist announced that her upcoming single, “In Another World,” will be released on Oct. 24.

EJAE shared the news in a handwritten letter posted on Instagram, where she reflected on her evolution from being a behind-the-scenes songwriter to embracing the title of a full-fledged artist.

She opened up about how songwriting has always been her form of self-expression and therapy, writing pieces that often “never found the right home.”

“I’ve decided I want my artist project to give life to those songs, so people can laugh, dance, or cry with me and the amazing collaborators who helped create them,” she wrote.

The new track, she explained, was born during a difficult time in her life and she hopes it will resonate with listeners who may be going through their own struggles.

In her letter, EJAE also shared how recent recognition has reshaped her outlook. “Getting so much exposure so quickly has been strange, exciting, and truthfully a little scary,” she admitted, adding that being called an “artist” or “star” felt surreal after years of working behind the curtains.

Yet, she now believes that artistry isn’t confined to the stage, it’s about using one’s craft to tell honest stories.

EJAE’s career soared after lending her voice to “KPop Demon Hunters,” which continues to dominate pop culture.

The film’s soundtrack recently reclaimed the No. 1 spot on Billboard 200, while the movie itself has held a place in Netflix’s Global Top 10 for 15 consecutive weeks, a record for an English-language title.

As “In Another World” nears release, EJAE’s words capture both vulnerability and hope, “Thank you to everyone who has supported me so far. I know my journey is still being written, and I am so grateful to anyone who is willing to tune in.”
