The dad-of-two accused of crashing his car into Liverpool FC’s packed trophy parade injuring at least 134 people has appeared in court.
Paul Doyle, 53, sobbed in court as he confirmed his name as he appears in Liverpool Crown Court via video link has been charged with 31 offenses, including causing grievous bodily harm with intent and dangerous driving.
He appeared to be in tears as he replied ‘yes I am’ to the clerk who asked if he was Paul Doyle at Liverpool Crown Court.
Doyle was told he faces 24 new charges this morning, which include assault against one six-month-old and one seven-month-old.
It comes after a Ford Galaxy struck fans, trapping some under its wheels, as people made their way back from watching the parade on Water Street on May 26.

Liverpool Football Club were celebrating winning its second Premier League title.
The ages of the injured range from nine to 78-years-old.
They have all since been discharged from hospital.
Doyle, of Croxteth, Liverpool, has been accused of two counts of wounding with intent, two counts of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, two counts of attempted grievous bodily harm with intent and one count of dangerous driving.
He also faces a new indictment which has been put forward by the prosecution this week, but his defense argues he only became aware of it this morning.
Simon Csoka KC said: ‘He has only become aware of the indictment this morning.’
He added he wishes to adjourn the arraignment.
Honorary Recorder of Liverpool Judge Andrew Menary KC agreed to adjourn the arraignment until September 4.
He is scheduled to face a trial lasting three to four weeks on November 24.
