During a recent conversation about the film on ExtraTV, the trio was asked to weigh in on some well-loved Filipino treats, including polvoron and yema.

For H.E.R., the choice was easy with polvoron, the crumbly dessert traditionally made with toasted flour, powdered milk and sugar. “I think we can all agree Polvoron is superior because we all enjoyed it together,” she said.

While H.E.R. had already become a fan, Soberano admitted that she initially wasn’t convinced by the popular snack.

“I’m a bit of a Polvoron hater. But they’ve converted me. Yeah, no, I thought I hated it, but Yema is my favorite,” the Fil-Am actress added.

Favorite food

The cast was also presented with a choice between four Filipino food favorites: adobo, sinigang, lumpia or halo-halo.

Franco and H.E.R. both picked lumpia, the Filipino-style spring roll commonly filled with seasoned meat or vegetables and served with a dipping sauce.

H.E.R., however, also made it clear that she has developed a particular fondness for halo-halo, the colorful Filipino dessert made with a mix of sweetened fruits, beans, jellies, shaved ice and milk, often topped with ice cream or other sweet ingredients.

“I’m addicted to halo-halo. Yeah, I am halo-halo,” H.E.R. confessed.

Best karaoke partner

The conversation shifted from food to music when the stars were asked who among them would make the best karaoke partner.

Franco and Soberano didn’t hesitate. Both pointed to H.E.R., whose acclaimed music career made her the obvious choice for the group.

Franco explained his pick with a laugh, saying, “I think the one who won the Oscar for singing would be the best partner.”

H.E.R. has won 5 Grammy Awards out of over 20 nominations. She broke through at the 61st Grammy Awards in 2019, winning Best R&B Album and Best R&B Performance.

“Forgotten Island,” starring Soberano, H.E.R. and Franco, is set to hit theaters on Sept. 25.
