Liza Soberano, Manny Jacinto star in new Filipino animated series

Liza Soberano and Manny Jacinto star in the animated adventure series, “Sun Chaser,” which released its debut episode on YouTube on June 23.

The series explores Filipino mythology and follows reluctant hero Jordan Santos, a teenager whose carefree summer in the Philippines takes a turn when a supernatural force threatens his home island.

Actors Eugene Cordero, Charo Santos-Concio, Dingdong Dantes and AC Bonifacio are among the Filipino cast.

The series is created by Filipino Americans Bobby Pontillas and Bernard Badion, and is produced by an all-Filipino team of artists from Manila-based Toon City Animations and Playlab.

The team launched a kickstarter campaign alongside their debut episode to call for financial support to produce future installments of the season.

“Every single frame of Sun Chaser was drawn, animated, and finished in the Philippines. By Filipino artists who gave everything they had to this world,” the team wrote. “Not outsourced. Not assisted. Fully, completely, one hundred percent made in the Philippines.”
