Sharing her excitement after the Philippine screenings of “Forgotten Island,” Liza Soberano said coming home to present the film made the experience even more meaningful as she celebrated the project’s historic milestone for Filipino representation.

Following several days of promotional activities in Manila, the actress took to social media to reflect on her homecoming, thanking fans for the warm welcome she received during the film’s local rollout.

Her visit included interviews, special events, jeepney rides, reunions with familiar faces and a screening where Filipino audiences got an early look at the highly anticipated animated feature.

‘I hope this is just the beginning’

For Soberano, the film carries significance beyond her own involvement. “Forgotten Island” is DreamWorks Animation’s first original feature inspired by Filipino culture and mythology, bringing elements of the country’s traditions, folklore and identity to audiences around the world.

The actress said being part of the landmark production is something she will always cherish, expressing hope that it opens the door for more Filipino stories to receive global recognition.

“To be part of DreamWorks’ first original Filipino story and to see our culture, our people, and pieces of home represented on this scale is something I’ll always be proud of,” she wrote. “I hope this is just the beginning of seeing more Filipino stories told and celebrated around the world!!”

Soberano also thanked everyone who supported the film during its Manila stop, from those who attended the screening to members of the media and longtime supporters.

Looking ahead to the film’s worldwide release, the actress said she is eager for international audiences to discover the story and its celebration of Filipino culture.

“I’m so excited for the rest of the world to finally see Forgotten Island and experience this story for themselves. Always feels good to be home,” she added.

“Forgotten Island” features Soberano among its voice cast and marks DreamWorks Animation’s first original story centered on Filipino culture.

The film’s official soundtrack also showcases Filipino artists including BINI and SB19.
