One of London’s busiest railway stations is set to close for almost a week during the Easter break.

If you need to catch a train from Euston over Easter, brace for a longer journey and queueing up for a replacement bus.

The station, known for its signature ‘Euston rush’ when passengers dash to the platforms, will shut for six days in April so that Network Rail

can carry out engineering works.

Euston will be closed from Good Friday, April 3, until Wednesday, April 8, meaning there are no Avanti West Coast or London Northwestern Railway trains.

All trains between Euston, Scotland, the North West of England and West Midlands will terminate at Milton Keynes Central instead, National Rail warned.

There will be a rail replacement bus taking passengers between Milton Keynes and Euston during the closure.

Chris Liptrot, Avanti’s operations director, said: ‘While Network Rail carry out this essential work, we’ll be operating an amended timetable with journeys to and from London Euston involving changes or rail replacement buses.

‘We strongly advise customers making journeys to or from London Euston between 3 and 8 April to plan ahead and check the National Rail website before travelling.’

If you have to travel to an airport for an Easter getaway, some of the routes to London airports have slight changes.

Heathrow Airport trains will have a late start on Sunday. On the Stansted route, the tracks will be closed between Stratford and Tottenham Hale over Easter until 6pm every day, so you will have to travel via London Liverpool Street.

Other London rail closures during Easter

Meanwhile, a reduced service will run between Waterloo and Clapham Junction stations due to railway works.

This will affect the route between Good Friday and Monday, April 6, National Rail said, and passengers will have to change trains at Clapham Junction.
