A man and woman have been arrested after a baby girl was found dead at a house in Oldham.
The child, aged around five weeks old, was discovered at an address on in Chadderton, west of the Greater Manchester town.
She was pronounced dead at the scene despite the efforts of paramedics.
A 41-year-old man and 21-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of child neglect.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: ‘Officers were called at around 12.56pm today to Nelson Way, Chadderton to a report concerning the welfare of a baby.
‘Emergency services attended and despite the best efforts of paramedics, she sadly died.
‘A man aged 41 and a woman aged 21 have been arrested on suspicion of child neglect. Enquiries are ongoing.’
