The second victim, a 48-year-old man, has since been released from hospital.

Ramsgate mayor Cllr Raushan Ara said ‘I am shocked by the horrific incident that took place in our town last night on Harbour Street. It is the worst I have ever seen.

‘We are calling on our MP, Polly Billington, to raise this matter in Westminster and to push for increased policing in our towns.  Antisocial behavior and drug-related issues are rising in our community and must be tackled to make Ramsgate a safer place for everyone.

‘While local businesses are working hard to survive, incidents like this make our town feel unsafe for residents and for visitors who want to enjoy their time here.’
