This is the first picture of a young man fatally stabbed in south east London on New Year’s Eve as detectives arrested two suspects.
John TemitopeOnetufo, 23, from Deptford, died at the scene in Grove Street, not far from his home.
Two men are now in custody for the murder of a 23-year-old man in Lewisham who was stabbed on New Year’s Eve.
Police said a 17-year-old boy and a 23-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of murder.
The young man who was fatally stabbed slumped to the ground, screaming after he was stabbed in the chest, locals have said.
Residents and paramedics in south east London battled to save his life, witnesses told Metro.
The victim, 23, was attacked in Grove Street, Deptford, just before 1pm, with his attacker fleeing the scene before dozens of police officers and paramedics were dispatched to the scene.
A resident of Camden House, which overlooks the crime scene, told Metro: ‘I was having a fag outside, then out of the corner of my eye I saw a guy slump and fall to the ground.
‘There was a scream. I thought he had been run over. I couldn’t see anyone near him. Some people passing ran over to help but the police and paramedics were there very shortly after. They battled to save him, but there was a lot of blood.’
A mother of three said: ‘The guy was on the ground, I told my children not to look. It was very frantic. It was the middle of the day on a busy road. It wasn’t as if it was dark, and it was New Year drunkenness or something.’
Forensics officers were scouring a local park on Friday as they hunted for a murder weapon.
