Filipino singer Marcelito Pomoy capped off 2025 on a high note after earning a standing ovation for his performance at Mar-a-Lago, the Trump family’s private estate in Florida, during a New Year’s celebration that ushered in 2026.

Taking to Instagram, Pomoy shared his gratitude and excitement over the milestone moment, writing, “No more words are needed. The perfect kick off of the 2026. Amazing performance at Mar-a-Lago for @potus & @flotus and their guests at the NYE Party.”

Just days earlier, on Dec. 29, Pomoy uploaded a video on Facebook showing him performing Andrea Bocelli’s iconic “Time To Say Goodbye” at Mar-a-Lago.

The performance highlighted Pomoy’s signature ability to seamlessly shift between his baritone and soprano voices, a talent that has defined his career.

During the New Year’s Eve celebration itself, Pomoy performed “The Prayer,” once again showcasing his rare dual-voice technique in front of an esteemed audience that included US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump.

Pomoy later shared photos of himself with the Trumps on social media and described the experience as a dream realized. The evening concluded with Pomoy shaking hands with the Trumps and receiving praise from the president.

Mixed reactions

While many of his followers praised and congratulated him on social media, Pomoy’s performance at the Mar-a-Lago party also drew criticism from netizens, with some saying they were unfollowing him and others threatening to boycott his shows.

Leah Borromeo commented: “Wouldn’t it be funny if ICE were waiting for you when you finished work. Hope you realize this doesn’t make you white, kuya.”

“Joining the ranks of Leni Riefenstahl as an artist who worked for a fascist isn’t a good look, kuya,” she added.

Another commenter wrote: “For all the money in the world, I would not take a photo with someone (who) is on the Epstein files…let alone sing for them.”

Pomoy first rose to prominence in the Philippines after winning the second season of “Pilipinas Got Talent” in 2011. His career later gained global attention when he appeared on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” in 2018, where he was introduced for his “golden female voice.”

In 2020, he further expanded his international reach by competing in “America’s Got Talent: The Champions.”
