A Japanese bulk carrier that leaked hundreds of tons of fuel oil off the coast of Mauritius has broken up, according to authorities in the island nation.
The MV Wakashio ran aground on a coral reef on July 25 with 4,000 tonnes of fuel, causing an ecological emergency.
