‘Murderous’: Olivia Rodrigo denounces ICE after killing of Alex Pretti

Following the fatal shooting of a nurse in Minneapolis that has sparked protests across the United States, Filipino American singer-songwriter Olivia Rodrigo once again used her platform to denounce US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Rodrigo, who has previously been vocal about immigration-related issues, took to Instagram Stories to express her outrage after reports emerged detailing the death of Alex Pretti, a 37-year-old ICU nurse at a VA hospital, who was shot and killed by a federal immigration officer.

“Murderous federal agency,” she wrote, while expressing support for demonstrators protesting the presence of ICE in Minnesota. She also urged her followers to take action beyond social media, urging them to contact lawmakers and oppose additional funding for the agency.

“Tell the Senate to stop passing ANOTHER $10 BILLION in funding to this agency,” she added.

The incident occurred less than three weeks after another Minnesota resident, Renee Good, was also killed in a separate ICE-related encounter, intensifying public outrage and calls for accountability.

Rodrigo further described ICE’s conduct as “unconscionable,” emphasizing that public pressure can still make a difference.

“We are not powerless. Our actions matter. I stand with Minnesota,” she wrote.

Meanwhile, those who knew Pretti have come forward to dispute the narrative of top Trump administration officials that he was a violent “domestic terrorist” and would-be assassin.

Pretti was remembered as kind and warm-hearted by his family, neighbors and the loved ones of the ailing veterans he treated at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center.
