Nine in life-threatening condition after mass stabbing attack on Huntingdon train

At least 10 people have been wounded during a mass stabbing attack on a London North Eastern Railway (LNER) train in Huntingdon.

An alarm was raised at 7.42pm amid reports of knife injuries and passengers trapped in the carriages of the 6.25pm train from Doncaster to London King’s Cross.

Witnesses say the attack unfolded shortly after the train pulled out of Peterborough, also in Cambridgeshire, which was a scheduled stop.

The train was stopped in Huntingdon, a town in Cambridgeshire, where police arrested two suspects. Ten people were taken to the hospital, with nine believed to have suffered life-threatening injuries and one with non-life-threatening injuries.

Sir Keir Starmer called the incident ‘deeply shocking’, while specialist counter-terrorism police have been brought in to support the investigation.

Train disruption is expected to last until tomorrow, LNER says.
