Oil and brine spills in McKenzie County after lighting set tank on fire – Grand Forks Herald
BISMARCK – According to a press release from the State Department for Environmental Quality, approximately 33,600 gallons of produced water and 1,700 gallons of oil have spilled in McKenzie County, ND. The spilled material was completely recovered.
Produced water, or brine, is a mixture of salt water, oil, and sometimes drilling fluids, which is created during the production of oil and gas.
