Filipino American singer-songwriter Olivia Rodrigo drops her highly-anticipated third studio album “You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love” on June 12.
But before the album drop, Rodrigo introduces listeners to its opening statement, “Drop Dead,” slated for release on April 17.
Rodrigo teased the release herself through Instagram, sharing a photo of her blowing bubblegum with the song title embedded in her attire. In the caption, she wrote, “‘drop dead,’ the first single from my new album, is out april 17!!!”

As the lead single, it will offer the earliest glimpse into the themes and musical changes she explores this era, beyond the raw heartbreak of “Sour” and the sharper edge of “Guts.”
The release also comes with a collectible twist. In addition to streaming platforms, “Drop Dead” will be issued in limited-edition physical formats, including a 7-inch “chewing gum pink” vinyl, a jewel case CD and a hot pink cassette.
Rodrigo first confirmed the album earlier this month, sharing both its title and artwork across her social media pages.
“My third album ‘You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love ‘ is out June 12th. I am so proud of this record and I can’t wait for you to hear it,” she said.
The album’s release date notably coincides with Philippine Independence Day.
While further details about the record remain under wraps, Rodrigo offered a glimpse into its emotional core, admitting, “No matter how hard I try to write love songs, they always come out laced with a little melancholy.”
